Tuckerman's Ravine, July 11th 2012
Last week we went to Pinkham Notch, in the White Mountains, where many trails depart to reach Mount Washington. We didn't mean to climb on top, but we were happy enough to get to Tuckerman's Ravine.
First we met Crystal Cascades.
The trail was rather rocky and hot (we started kind of late).
At the end of the trail there is a shelter , maintained by the Appalachian Mountain Club.
We weren't that happy with our result, so we decided to go up a bit, towards the floor of the Ravine.
Here's James, our leader....
Slowly, we advance...in the Alpine garden, the alpine zone.....
The view is breathtaking, the air much cleaner.
Two thirds of the way up we decided to stop, but we want to go further up next year.
Back down at the shelter, we had lunch and visited the lake.
Whoops, we forgot to take a photo, we did it back at the start, tired but happy.....
